Clove Hitch Knot

The Sheet Bend is a dependable knot used to connect two ropes, especially when the ropes are different thicknesses. It can also be used with ropes that are the same size. To form the knot, the larger rope is shaped into a loop, called a bight, while the smaller rope is threaded through and wrapped to hold everything securely in place.

This knot is widely used in sailing, climbing, and other outdoor or utility tasks because it is easy to tie and holds firmly under tension. The Sheet Bend is often viewed as one of the most important basic knots. Knot expert Clifford W. Ashley even placed it first in his well-known reference book, The Ashley Book of Knots.

This is one of the 6 knots that Cadets must master for promotion board review.
